996

This used to be about as late as we go with 911‘s but we now have all the gear to service the latest models too. The 996 was the first 911 to depart from the air cooled engines used in all earlier cars from 1965. Many believe that the 996′s predecessor, the 993, was the last enthusiasts 911 and consequently it’s now getting easy to pay more for an earlier 993 than a more modern 996.

That said, the 996 has sold in great numbers and is still loved by many. As with the earlier cars, the 996 still has a fantastic racing pedigree and is the basis for GT formula cars throughout the club and international racing scene.

Replaced with the 997, and now 998 variants, the 996 can most be easily distinguished from later cars by the integrated front light assembly. In the picture above at a recent 24 hour race, the DSD pit crew readies the 911-virgin sponsored 996 for another stint.

We hope this gives you a taste of our experience with 996′s. Why not get in touch with us to discuss how we might help restore or maintain yours to the ‘right’ standard.
