Boxster & Boxster S

Porsche Boxster 986

The ’96 introductory cars featured a 2.5 litre engine, with the ‘S’ variant starting out with a 3.2 litre. Initially known as the ’986′, these share the headlights and nose with the ’996′ variant of the 911. Both Boxster models have progressed in engine size over the years, along with numerous styling, equipment and mechanical upgrades.

The later 987S variants (introduced in 2004 alongside the face-lifted 997 version of the 911) have a 3.4 litre normally aspirated flat 6, stopping short of matching the capacity and power of the corresponding 911 in 997 and then 998 variants.

In all honesty, while Boxster’s are not the mainstream of our work, and not yet of an age where they need major rebuilds or restoration, these cars are getting to the stage where the more discerning owner may appreciate our traditional skills and approach to looking after their car. Certainly, if you have a very latest ’987 Generation II’ model, then we’d recommend that you stick with your local dealer for now, otherwise give us a call.

We hope this gives you a taste of our experience with Boxster’s. Why not get in touch with us to discuss how we might help restore or maintain yours to the ‘right’ standard.
